The primary source of spiritual learning is within the family, and our goal at SouthWest Unitarian Universalist Church is to support the caregivers of our children and youth with our programming, community, and resources.
For the 2019-2020 church year, our Religious Exploration Ministry for children and youth remains committed to addressing the issues of racism, oppression, and bias in our multicultural world. We will explore the call that Unitarian Universalists have to help heal our world through service learning and activities that put our faith into action.
Sunday Morning Schedule:
10:15 — Nursery is open for infants through pre-school.
10:30 — All ages attend the worship service through the Story for All Ages. The nursery is available for the youngest who may not want to attend the first part of the service.
10:45 — Children and Youth leave the service to attend their groups.
11:30 — Worship service ends. Refreshments and fellowship are available.
11:45 — The RE groups end their activities and will be finished with their classes. Please do not interrupt the room when they are still in their groups. Children must be picked up from the nursery by this time.
Thematic Learning: SouthWest UU chooses a worship theme for each month. Once per month the age groups spend some time learning about the theme for that month. The themes that we will be coordinating in RE this year are:
September — Covenant
October — Democracy
November — Mission/Vision
December — Compassion
January — Authority/Leadership
February — Generosity
March — Forgiveness
April — The Divine/God
May — Sabbath
